I've always loved music, but the band that really encouraged me to learn more about it and get into it even more was the Beatles.

All that says is that the sort of people that use last.fm are the sort of people that would like Portishead more. It's hardly a good representation of the average high schooler's taste.

I like Glenn Miller too (and talk about someone with a crazy story). I actually like a lot of those swing guys: Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Duke Ellington, Cab Colloway, Count Basie, etc. I have a decent amount of that stuff.

In Vain - Mantra (2010) Holy shit. It's seriously just like Opeth's best material, but without sounding like Opeth. It's really a prime example of a band going that extra mile in production to make the album really stand out. I think this band has the potential to be the Opeth of this decade.
