I'd recommend Disturbed. For a band that mainstream, they're actually quite good, and I'm thinking they might fit your tastes. Nothing too complicated, but very catchy and melodic metal.

dude, that's the moshing sound that most metalcore uses in there songs. It's strictly put in there for moshing i believe, and it doesn't bother me at all. You're right though, almost all of them sound the same, no matter what song they are in. I thought those chugga riRAB came from hardcore...

you mean like 99% of all the other prog drummers? Bruford, Collins, Mason, even technically complex guys like Brann Dailor are fine with an 8-10 piece drumset. there's only a few knuckleheaRAB out there that have enormous sets, and a good bit of it arises from pretensions or insecurities they...
