Should have had your old battery tested first. Is free at any auto zone or kragen etc. Make sure all cable connection are clean and shiny, use a wire brush to make sure you have a good connection. Could be the switch or the starter, hard to say with out doing some tests.
check the auto zone web site under repairs. Just be sure to keep rotors very clean remove all traces of grease and oil including finger prints and do one side at a time, using one side as a reference as how it should look.

could be just a bad carb. float? or bad needle valve or both? Is car running rich, like in black exhaust smoke? popping could be related to timing or air pollution equipment...is check engine light on?

When you get to your hotel hang them in the bathroom............turn on the shower as hot as you can.... The wrinkles, if any, will be gone in a few minutes.... The steam from the shower does it.
