I'm unsure if it does add anything or not. I checked a link to the BBFC site and the length of the Theatrical and DVD release were the same. I would expect deleted scenes or something of that nature.

Is the whole film singularly a metaphor for apartheid? I don't know if I could sit down and watch a science fiction film which shovels that theme down my throat. There are many excellent documentaries which already do that job. I don't mind subtlety, but I do not want to go into the cinema...
