I've got a n73, and have tried both included web browsers, as well as opera, and none of them will remember userid/passwords of sites I go to. Is there some special hidden setting somewhere I'm missing? Or maybe a password addon that I can download?

You are correct that you don't have the right softwware on your DVD. You need to contact TomTom (or the retailer you bought the package from) and let them know that you did not get the correct item.
