Your perspective on things and your automotive taste will change a lot in that year, wait till you get back. Besides why ride an old bike model when you can get something a year newer.

I agree with Ted, The BMW is the best on your list followed by the Volvo.
Cant imagine how the Discovery made it onto your list.
Looking good does not change the fact that Land Rover as a company sits at the very bottom of JD Powers reliability rankings, like the one answer said, its a money pit.
There is so much more to cars than 0-60 times. Enzo is an all carbon construction, uses lots of F-1 technology, has a Ferrari V-12, top speed of 217 mph, etc, etc, only 399 made, a used one is well over a million dollars.
Both GM and Ford have hybrid models out now, in the nest 3 years or so every manufacturer will be in this segment. One thing is for certain, with the end of the recession, high oil prices will come back, no auto maker can afford to ignore this segment.

The battery gauge is somewhat misleading, it measures the health of your charging system, NOT the battery. Yes, check the alternator and all charging related stuff.
Driving a hummer you may not be aware of a feature many cars have, its called HANDLING. Honda S2000 is a very nicely balanced car with razor sharp reflexes.
By the way the H2 does 0-60 in 8.4 seconds and the S2000 does it in 5.4 seconds, that's called power to weight ratio.

The thermostat restricts the coolant flow thereby letting the car get to operating temperature faster, after that it regulates the coolant flow to keep the engine at the desired operating temperature.
If the thermostat fails your car may overheat. If you run without a thermostat the computer...
Dont use anything on your drill, you will swirl and damage your paint. Get a clay bar, clay the surface by hand as per instructions, follow by a polymer polish such as Klasse or any premium polymer wax, Do it by hand or random orbital buffer.
