Question about Streetfighting a Yamaha XJ600s motorbike?

The chances of the R1 tank dropping onto the XJ's backbone frame without extensive modification are slim to none. So are the odds of any late swing arm slotting into your frame. There is no blueprint for the kind of mods you are talking about. You have to call on your own ingenuity and skill as...

can you bump start a suzuki dr650se?

You ought to be able to. As far as I can tell, the flywheel ignition does not require the battery. However, I have never had any success bump-starting mine, even with the battery working. Mine just skids the rear wheel in 2nd 3rd and 4th. Maybe I need to try 5th. OTOH, my KLR pops right off.

There are many Harleys which should have been limited to that extent.

Buying a used bike, first bike purchase?

I would not be it too big a hurry to buy a Vulcan, or any cruiser for that matter. Offer him half and if he doesn't hoover up your offer, take a walk. Life's too short to have four bills tied up in a cruiser.

What's the Best Survival Motor Bike?

The KLR650 is the best survival motor bike. The Last Whole Earth Catalog, around 1968 or so, addressed this question, or something very like it. It included only two motorcycles, the Jawa 2-stroke and the roller-crank BMW. These two alone were viewed as having the virtues of simplicity...

99 Suzuki RM250 Gas and Oil?

Run regular gas. A good ashless 2-stroke oil at 32:1 is hard to beat. BelRay and Yamalube are brands I have had good results with. Rick Sieman at Off-road.com has recommended that mix for years, and it has always worked for me. The only time I use less oil is with my MZs, for which the...

Minus the Vrod series, what is the difference between Harley Davidson models,

I'm no expert on harleys, but there are at least five different chassis: sportster, softail, Dyna, bagger, glide. That is just what I have picked up in my general reading over the years. There have also been changes in chasis design, adding such features as flexible engine mounts to damp...

Hiy, i as looking for a scooter to ues to and from work. Buy was also thinking about...

Whether you can legally drive a quad in traffic depends on where you are. They are illegal in most states, but can be licensed for the road in a few. In Mexico, you often see them carrying a few schoolgirls around town. Why would you want to be seen on one, however? Quads are for chimps.

    1990 yamaha virago 535 clutch/shifting trouble?

Start by lubricating the clutch cable, making sure it moves freely and is not frayed. Adjust the free play for about 3mm of slack at the lever. Be sure that the lever is not cracked, does not foul the engine or frame, and fits tightly on its splines.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R or Suzuki GS500F Beginner Sports Bike?

My girlfriend started on a GS425. She's 5' 6" and pretty athletic. She had no problem with it. You are smaller, so the 250 might suit you better. It goes pretty well; a couple of guys at least are running them in Iron Butt events. I like the Suzukis, though. The extra torque can be nice at...

Should i get the kawasaki Ninja 250R?

Yes to the Ninja, and yes to the MSF course, which was $65 when I took it in 1976, but probably costs a couple hundred bucks today. Take the course first, as you may change your mind about what bike to buy. I favor dual sport bikes for beginning riders (not to mention the discerning advanced...

Best tank bag for a Kawasaki Ninja 250?

There are a lot of tank bags around. My favorites are a Chase Harper double decker and an Eclipse Sport Pack. These are both old enough that they may no longer be in production. The beauty of a tank bag is that it does not get in the way when you ride. It can be high enough that you can't read...

Ducati or Harley which is better!?

A dyno shop operator I know put it this way: The harley rider and the Ducati rider are essentially the same guy. They don't dress alike, and they probably don't know each other, but they are the same guy. And they are both really easy to make money off of. The Ducati is the better motorcycle...

How many people can sit or ride on a Ducati 1198 & 1098?

It is a monoposto, and i don't see passenger pegs. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/197598/images/1098.jpg So the answer depends on how many are willing to wait for their turn.

How come Harley Davidson doesn't make a dirtbike?

Some time in the early '90s, Harley had a dual sport/military bike powered by a Rotax power plant. I don't think the military bought any.A local dealer had one with a price tag of $14k, about four time what a KLR650 was selling for. At $3500, I might have been interested. At $3500, I might be...

I don't think Suzuki made any 4-strokes in 1967. Anyway, as long as you keep the model to yourself, you are the only one who will be able to research its value.

Does anyone know how a 1977 Honda XL 125 can be run without the battery?

If I recall correctly, the XL does not use a flywheel magneto like most current bikes, it uses points and a coil. The battery is a necessary pert of the system. You may be able to substitute an electrolytic capacitor for the battery; I'm not sure about that.
