    have a 2005 chevy impala and temp gauge is off. what does it mean?

    changed out thermostat thinking it was clogged and the gage moved a lil but not far from in the red still. I changed out the temp sender unit and it moved back to normal at first and then when I turned of car n started it back up it went past the red and steady going down
