well it is an infection, and honestly they do not live long. Go to your local pet store and describe your fish. Also, i wonder if heating is really necessary for the tank, as 5 gallons is a lot for one fish. But do NOT buy anymore to live with him if he is infected. Perhaps a smaller tank?
