Defiantley The Golden Age of Radio, I see what you're saying though, his newer albums(Animal Years, Historical Conquest of) are a lot harder to get into. His only album I really didn't like was Hello Starling, but I haven't heard his self-titled.

Closing Time is one of the better debut albums I've heard. It is stylistically different from his later albums, including those just three or four years later. But I wouldn't consider it a poor album; he exposes an emotional side which he never fully returned to in later years. If you want to...
