Are we in a quagmire in Iraq?

Vietnam was lost because of a failure to exert political will. Likewise that's the only way that the Iraqi mission will be lost. But they're both quagmire's in the sense that the Administration mislead the public, and incidentally the Houses of Congress, about why the USA was going in and how...

    King Kong

I agree with this. As a fan of Lord of the Rings, I enjoyed those movies but i thought Jackson overly indulged, especially in the last film. He cut out important bits of plot, changed characters to suit himself, and introuced long scenes which were unnecessary and unbalanced the story. As one...

    Most over-done cliche in cinema.

I hate it at the end of teen type rebellion movies when the devil's music starts (or whatever) and all the aged nemesis of the teen types start tapping their feet and dancing (or whatever)

    A nightmare on elm street

Yes it's worth having. Nightmare on Elm Street, Nightmare on Elm Street III, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare are worth having. I would say Freddy's Dead is worth having too, I think I'm in the minority though. Definitely buy it and watch the first at least before the remake. Plenty of time anyway.

    3D - a fad again??

i was a youngester in early 80s when films where showing in 3d. I did see Jaws 3d which was the best thing ever at the time. I do believe this time, it has had a lasting impact. I dont care for it much at all - but was very suprised when i first heared about 3D TVs in Januray. to the point...

Lord of the Rings- The Most Overated Movie ever??

I watched the first one at the cinema and spent weeks trying to convince myself that it was a good film but the truth eventually dawned on me. It is a good piece of cinema (ie technologically and in terms of sheer scale) but in terms of entertainment it is as dull as ditchwater

The Prisoner - new US tv series remake.

Just finished watching the first 3 episodes of this new version of the classic UK tv series. Some spoilers ahead........ It stars Jim Caviziel as Number 6, and Ian McKellen as Number 2. Like a lot of new versions of classic films or tv series, it alters the original concept...
