    When I was in grade school, they gave me a trophy for finishing 5th in a race. There was only five people running. I didn't feel good about it....but I think I was supposed to.

    If I'm not mistaken, it's only happened once in the history of the league. If it has happened more, it has been a long time. Even the all-time great Lakers and Celtics teams couldn't do it.     Do you know of any major authors that didn't study English extensively?

    I was wondering if there are any major American novelists that didn't major in English in college, or have some sort of extensive English training. I can only think of Truman Capote. I'm pretty sure he skipped college all together.
