Sounds like it could be one of several things... Go ahead and change the thermostat sense you already have it. Your heater core could be leaking, or just stopped up. Let the car warm up real good, then turn it off. Check under the hood around the radiator and hoses, looking for leaks. Also...

I am 6'8" also, but I do outweigh you a bit, sad to say. A while back, I tried to ride one (it was a few years back), and it just wasn't comfortable at all. I would suggest a nice cruiser instead... they just fit us big guys better.
