The render appears to have some things missing though-I would expect the top end to match that of the N8, and it appears that only the power button is there and while there's an HDMI logo there isn't the indentations for opening the actual port. Not to mention the right side of the device only...

To answer my own question, the rogue app is Ovi Contacts. Under Options > Settings > Connection > Network connection, it was set to "Internet". Once changed to "Ask when needed" no new entries showed up in the activity log. Problem solved!
