Bad news then. Turtles eat fish. They will try and eat any fish you keep in a tank with them. Plus with turtles, you need a crawl out place for them to get out of the water, even water type turtles. Fish rest..turtles eat fish. see the problem?

There really should be a heater for him. A lamp can raise the temp dangerously high and when the bulb burns out..then what? Also you just got him..give him some time to settle in. But he really needs a temperature around 78-80 degrees F. at all times, not a yo-yoing temperature.

Goldfish usually only go good with goldfish. They produce too much waste and need cooler temps them tropicals do. i have heard people putting white cloud minnows in with them, but I haven't done it. do not put any tropicals like platies, mollies, angelfish or any type of cichlids.

Just know that blue, opiline, golds a dkssng ones can get too large. The kissers especially. I would add a pair of dwarfs and another mollie. Keep you total fish under 6-7 and make to check on the adult size before purchasing. remember..fish grow.

The pet store will do it for free. but i question you..if spending money on doing the tank right is too much..then how are you going to stock and take care of any fish? i spent about $10.00 on a kit..you don't have to have a lab to do it.

Yes, bettas can be a community fish..sometimes. But they should never be put with golds. Golds produce a large amount of waste and therefore foul the water quickly. Bettas are touchy about bad water, no matter what some people say. it's their ancestors that lived in rice paddies..not the ones...
