Civ 3 is much better. I thought AOE 3 was very limiting, and a little more combat oriented, so you couldn't focus on winning via other means or building your economy, or exploring. Graphics might be better on AOE 3, but Civ 3 wins at everything else.

I read a book I got from the library a few years ago and I am trying to remember what it is called. It had a human or elf main character. They traveled with a team of good guys to the north of their land where a bad guy ruled from a castle fortress. The book ended after they defeated the bad guy...
