Did you ask your librarian? Most libraries have a book-sharing system where if the one doesn't have it, another library near by will lend it to them for you. The movie isn't out yet, as far as I know, and even if it was, anything online would be pirated and therefore illegal.

It's not scifi, and it doesn't cover fifty years, but it does span a decade: Gone with the Wind, and, even longer, if you include Scarlett. Harry Potter covers six years, almost a decade. I'm sure there are some out there. It sounds like a great idea.
