    When was M*A*S*H better? The early years or when Alan Alda took control?

    I never really followed the show much but I just read that the early years under the original producers was more happy go lucky humor and when Alda seized control it became more profound and almost preachy and suddenly everyone was witty and quick humored in a more intellectual fashion.
