I chose the religion I'm currently following because its moral code perfectly matched the ethics I had embraced as an atheist -- that is, as a human being.

Social Engineering 101 would still apply. Religions codify the rules that naturally arise to keep social groups stable. In other words: morality evolved.
So couples who are infertile shouldn't be having sex either?
