What would be a cause for a 1987 Kawasaki KX80 not being able to reach its top speed?

Will a 1988 Kawasaki KX80 fit in a 2003 Ford Taurus wagon?
I'm about to buy a 1988 Kawasaki KX80 and am thinking about picking it up in my 2003 Ford Taurus wagon. Will the bike fit, or should I have it delivered? Please answer ASAP, as I'm picking it up tonight.
