I would like to make a search engine similar to google or yahoo but not as big. I have a lot of experience in visual basic coding and a decent amount in sql server. But i'm not quite sure how to go about the indexing. A nice tutorial would be nice.

I use Bluefish editor on Linux. There is a Windows version of it but I think it's only in BETA testing, and it has a plugin I don't feel like running. I know I could just Google search and find any HTML/PHP editor, but I want one with specific features like syntax highlighting, the tag 'closer'...
