im 15 and i can put a bike together in 2 hours. from the bare frame and i took it for a 3 mile bike ride and nothing went wrong with it.

You can, but Synthetic isn't that much more expensive, and it's significantly better as far as thermal breakdown compared to conventional oils. I'd suggest you put out the few extra bucks and stick with synthetic.
