I have been using the 2.1 update for nearly a year with great success... now a strange thing just started hapening. my calendar displays the green appointment marks on the appropriate days but there are no details when i open them.. they are on the correct days as in google...
in order to use the satellite, you need to have it on "online." there's a prompt that tells you that the very first time you access it. it downloads it on the fly, the maps that you load onto the phone is just the normal view
What I was originally trying to say was that this is pretty much an AT&T / T-Mobile user room, (left it at "GSM" to shorten it up) & most Nokia users use one or the other for their carrier.
While I'm not terribly thrilled with AT&T (every network has it's issues), my corporate discount still...

speakers seem decently loud, but no real bass. the bb bold still has the best speaker sound quality for music, in my opinion. the n86 is fairly loud though as i can hear the music clearly while i am in the shower (phone on the counter :-) ) and i cant say that for all nseries phones.

They didn't specify any internal hardware changes, but they did say everything inside was changed and talked about various applications running much faster than the last iPhone.
So, yes, there is most probably a new processor under the hood. More RAM is the question.
you can use PDA's too. I didn't use it for daily use, only for when I use to go to class and program it to the tv's and stuff. I like the traditional TV remote for my TV/Cable box.
I agree with both of you about RAM (and have already wrote about it), this is my only concern and not the CPU, although 128MB has been enough since they implemented demand paging it would definitely have been better 256MB
