The Hellenistic Kingdoms were more corrupt and morally looser, which earned the disdain of the Romans. However, the Hellenistic world was where Rome bought or stole its artwork and teachers.
The war decimated the young male population of England. Consequently, there was a postwar phenomenon of many English women "poaching" younger men as husbands. This had the effect of liberalizing western concepts of love and marriage.
