There should be a serial number on the engine somewhere. I believe its down by the oil pan but im not sure. You would be able to look up that number and find out. I have never done this but a friend said he did it so who knows. Good Luck

I know 2002 is one of the years where the r1 drastically changed. you would have to buy a manual or call the dealer and ask. Look up specs online
