Receiving line and mingling with guests?

Yes, you need to mingle with everyone. Shaking someones hand in a receiving line and then ignoring them the rest of the night is rude. Most brides and grooms do both and visit each table. The bride and groom are served dinner first. You eat and then walk around while other tables are still...

As a maid of honour or best man how much money should you give to the bride and groom...

I always give around $100 to $200 depending on level of friendship. If we are friends with both the bride and groom then $200 to $300. I feel like no matter how much money I've spent to be in the wedding that being in it means I'm close enough to the couple I should be giving a significant amount.

Have you discussed how to handle the 'child situation' with your future spouse?

We didn't discuss it until we were ready to have children 3 to 5 years into our marriage. Had we discussed it before the wedding we would have had to say daycare but since his job and income changed by the time we had kids I was able to stay home. I think you do need to discuss expectations to...

Why is the party of personal responsibility doing nothing but complaining?

You are missing the point. Personal responsibility means that people get off their own butts to help their own selves, not to "get involved" and help "rebuild the country." Too many people blame everyone else for their situations. I have friends out of work and struggling who have no one to...

Global Warming, then its was changed to Climate Change, now its?

It angers me that something that hasn't even been determined as fact by the worlds leading scientists can become a political/government issue like it has. The temperature in the highest level of the atmosphere has not changed at all but no one brings it up. The entire thing is a way to get more...

Bad tippers: why don't you like to tip good at a restaurant?

I always tip 15 to 20% if the service is average or good but I can't help but think that the waiter at my birthday dinner that cost $200 didn't deserve $40 more than the waiter at Friendly's who had to deal with screaming kids next to us and had food spilled all over her and only got $5. It's...

Need opinions/suggestions on menu cards for buffet?

Why do you need to display the menu? I've never seen that done before. When people get up there they will take what they like. I wouldn't bother.

Is the groom's parents name on the wedding invitation, or just the bride's?

It is customary to just put the bride's parents. It has not been until the last few years that I have started seeing the groom's parents on there at all. I've been to over 30 weddings and I think I've seen the groom's parents on there maybe 3 times. It's up to you. It's not expected or...

Friends of the groom brought a life size posterboard to our wedding?

Sounds like they took a serious day and tried to take a joke way too far in an attempt to get attention for themselves. You are right to be angry.

Seeing my consultant to book induction on Wed. What questions would you ask?

I don't think you can wear contact lenses. They usually make you wear glasses in the hospital in case something were to happen and there was an emergency.

How do I address a wedding invitation to my parents-in-law?

I guess you are referring to the inside envelope and it would be their first names.

How much for ice sculptures and chocolate fountain?

We had a big rectangle with our initials in it and a design. It was $400 USD.
