    is it illogical to follow a book roughly 2000 years old?

    If you were to build a house, and knowing you've never built one before - wouldn't you study up so you knew what you were doing? Is it any different than trying to lead your own life, a life you never lived before vs. listening to what a book full of wisdom on life says?
