Honestly, the metal back on my E51 feels cheap and tinny, and creaks in my hand when I use it. My BB8800 feels very solid. The one truly communications related feature I wish BB would include in the OS is a tightly integrated VoIP client. The S60 one is fantastic.

Yeah, I don't buy that analogy. For all pratical purposes the iPhone, Pre, G1 are all smartphones, it's silly to insist on calling them pdas just to pretend they're trying to do something different. And there is way more real differentiation between types of cars than there is between phones...
