There aren't too many free campsites in Canada. Outside of Winnipeg is Bird's Hill National Park, which has pretty stellar campgrounds, but i've yet to hear of ones that you can camp in for free (i think they charge about $20). Check out Canada National Parks guide for more information.

Definitely possessed. This happens sometimes. Probably from canned food he's been eating. Make sure to keep an eye on him and flash a mirror at him. Demon cats can't stand their own reflections.
