If you want to go fast on a bicycle then a BMX bike is not the right choice. I have gone 54mph on my road bike while on a down hill. I know people who have gone over 60mph on downhills. But it all depends on the rider's strength and the terrain. It is easier to go faster on a downhill, ect.
