- if you've already exhausted your allotment of carry-on luggage and you have no choice but to use check-in luggage? Does hard-sided luggage help? I asked this in the packing section, but got few responses, so this is a repost under a different section.

Has anyone had experience using the hard luggage (the outside is dent-resistent) for transporting breakable items when checking-in on an airplane flight? Does the hard outside protect the items from breakage at all, and what are your tips for packing?

Mine is Javert from Les Miserables. He's very obsessive like myself. LOL. I also like the generic Kafka protagonist ("K" in The Trial, Gregor in Metamorphosis, the unnamed Hunger Artist) because I often feel like I'm moving through an absurd reality, myself.
