Brown Water snakes are pretty common in Southern US and are everywhere in Florida. They are really light brown and are not venomous. if you are anywhere near water(pond, lake, stream) that thats probably what it is. They will climb trees too.

It could have been a blue catfish. it could have looked a little different if it was twisted weird. I catch them all the time in Kansas and they are a very deep blue color.
