Does the battery spin the starter as quickly as it used to? If not the battery may be old & worn out, they don't last forever.

Out of those, the Focus wins hands down. More reliable, better driving, cheaper to run and more modern than the other two. Yes it looks a bit funny but it's by far the best car of the 3.

Good cars, but if you're buying secondhand be aware that a new clutch/DMF can cost over £1000 so ask if it's been done. Also these are often used as minicabs so check for signs of hard use and a well worn rear seat.

The only real way to answer this is to take it to a garage where they can hook up a code reader which will tell them whatever fault is stored on the system causing the warning light to come on. I mean, people may well guess at an answer, but that's all it'll be.

You probably did pay a bit over the odds for it, but it's not impossible that an absolutely mint condition MX5 that age might be worth that. Scruffy ones do change hands for about £1000, but as with any car, condition is everything. I'd just enjoy it while the sun's shining. (Well, it is here!)
