Denim is cotton. There is at least one company that recycles it to make building insulation. It will degrade naturally, the time required depends on the conditions it's in.
If it is a very small job, (and I have done this) you could simply spray a quantity of the paint into a small container and then brush it on. I'm surprised that your local paint store couldn't color match some paint for you.

The best is probably a BCS. They are manufactured in Italy and available in several different sizes. I don't know whether you can find a local dealer, but they are the best, most durable tiller available. There are online sources if you can't find a dealer.

If the plants were being kept inside they may be suffering from some degree of shock at being suddenly in bright sun. There is some shock because of transplanting. Add water to the base of the plants right away, and then daily for a week or so. That will get water directly to the roots...
