    Is it true that the Army isn't taking 2 year contracts anymore ?

    There are only certain jobs that allow you to have a 2 year contract. I think 11B is one of them. Look up the National Call to Service Program for more info.

    military ranks information?

    for the first several (4-5) ranks, you are promoted based on how long you've been in. After that, you earn them by being very talented or loyal and hardworking. But they will be slow and spread out, so don't expect to be a Sergeant after 2 years or something like that.
