Maybe you could get the drums turned if the grooves aren't too bad. Are the magnets messed up too? Plug into someone else's truck that has a controller and see if the same thing happens. It could be a defective controller.

The Battery could be defective even if it is new. Try starting the bike off a car battery,disconnect the bike battery first. If it starts OK then take the new battery back where you bought it and tell them to give another.
