If you run NSS it will read your product code before you change it. However, the default NAM code should be 0577454. I made a post about the update procedure here (click). Check it out if you are unsure of the process. It was a mistake. One of those Nokia "oops" moments when things pop up...

You need a torx driver so it is not that hard to remove or replace a battery. There are several videos showing how to remove the battery on the N8, should be the same on the E7.
