well u should be able to just plug one end in your ipod and the other in your radio(that supports option) hit aux button and play away

u don't need an amp to make your system back playing. what u can do though time consuming is run your own speaker wire to speaker wires he has already ran in car from your sony deck harness speaker wires. As for your door speakers, just find his speaker wires that he ran and splice into them...

check your connector at sensor and along the wiring to make sure u don't have a bad place in wire and also check for any loose vacuum lines

when u say u hooked up, i presume that means wired speakers and everything to amp. sounds like ur speaker leads may have touch together. a few things could have went wrong. yes u can replace the outputs. u can send it to rockford. may cost u a little though but cheaper than buying a new amp
