When we moved into our house, we covered the unknown number of existing paint layers in the guest room with a coat of Behr Interior Satin lavender. This was in the era Before Baby.

In between. If the person is close, a "hi" is appropriate. But if there is some distance, a simple smile works better. I like to at least acknowlege other people. Better all around -- they know I'm not up to something devious, and they may remember seeing me if something happens.
Of course America has no culture. There is no California roll sushi, only Japanese style. There are no award-winning musicals like Grease or Rent, only classical plays from Shakespeare. And everyone here says "Hello", never "Hi", "Howdy", or "Wassup".
