I'm in the ANG, and I know in order to get into the ANG I had to score at least a 50. But, my roommate is thinking about joining the active army, or the marines. I heard that to join the active army or marines, you only need an ASVAB score of 31, is this true?

The GS500F will be just fine, it's not too big of a gap from the 250. It's a very nice starter bike that won't be ruthless in high RPM's. But it's also a good bike to have fun on, I'd recommend it.
Yeah, just stop to rest because it's going to be a buzzing ride! I took a 5 hour ride with my buddy and he was riding an 02 Kawa 250, it rode at like 7 grand the whole way but we stopped to rest and everything worked out fine.
