i downloaded the movie 300hd in mkv format which resulted in 4.17gb. when i tried to transfer it to my n8, it said that it was too big. so i was wondering if someone could suggest a different hd format that is better suited for the n8, or what size the mkv has to be in order for th n8 to play...

I use T9 as well. Very efficient. The mini-QWERTY keyboard is useless, IMO. Requires precision accuracy. I mistype 95% of words.
