i have glofish gouramis and platys with a long tailed danio, are they just all top dwellers are they oxygen feeders or just hungry, does anybody know how to make them swim where they should

I have 5.5 inches of room left in my tank. Should i get a school of fish. Another Flame or Powder Blue Gourami or another glofish. Any other suggestions would be great. Also is there any way of getting rid of algea besides getting a fish for it or scrubbing it off.
