Why doesn't my truck radio work right?

It hasn't worked for going on a year and a half. When I turn it in on it makes alof of static, crackling, and i can't understand any music or anything. I had a water leak in the back widow of the truck, I don't think water got on any radio type equipment but i'm not 100% positive. Its just a standand stock radio on a 93 ford ranger. What could it be?
 
might just be worn out we ran fords in the 90's at my old job and they just burned up
