Like Michelle (see one of the posters above), the novel is my all-time favorite as well.

And I like this movie compared to the BBC series with Colin Firth. Colin might be closer to the Darcy in the book for me, but I just like this movie better...probably because Keira just captures the essence of Lizzie IMO.

Hey Gin and Janelle!!!

I love the movie too! I just finished reading the book and I loved it as well. I can't believe I hadn't read it before now. It's wonderful.

I agree, the end of the movie is so sweet. I need to watch it again. I haven't seen it in a while. It is easily my favorite movie. :)

I found this website with very cute photos, including behind-the-scenes ones like this:

The book is wonderful. I would definitely recommend reading it as well.

I think Keira did a superb job in playing Lizzy. Not to mention it is a great, insightful story. :)

^ thks for insight.

I'm only thinking of renting it 'cause Of Keira. But i also heard that there was a tv-movie BBC adaptation of the book a couple of years ago, right?

And the book seems to be well-received also. :)

Could someone please tell me the music that plays behind both Pride and Prejudice trailers? Or can tell me where I would find that information.

I personally liked the kiss. It was sweet to a very good movie.
I don't know why they added that to the end, perhaps, we could handle it? I don't know.

Matthew and Keira owned it!

this film was fantastic!! I watch it all the time

that BBC thing of P&P aint got nothing on this amazing film!

IMO that BBC version is beyond terrible

i hate old movies that are set in this time period.. but i tried to watch it and i ended up really liking it.. keira knightley is really good. i love her accent when she says mr darcy

I agree, Matthew is just amazing as Darcy. He truly makes you feel the character as does Keira with Lizzy. I could never tire of watching P&P. It's one of those few films that are truly incredible.

Thanks for sharing your icons. They are beautiful! The rain scene ones...:thud: Gorgeous! I love that scene so much! :)

Speaking as someone who loathes and despises most chick flicks as being cheesy, unreal, and even insulting, not to mention sending a bad/false message to the women of today as to what real, successful, healthy romance should be like, I don't find this film falls into any of those categories.

Thing is, I could say that about almost any Austen adaptation. She didn't write books that were romantic, in the sense of fantasy - she wrote strong women characters and has most of her characters (both male and female) go through significant growth along the way. This translates easily into a great narrative for films, and it would be tough to screw that up (although I'm sure someone, somewhere, has made a crappy version of Persuasion or Sense and Sensibility).

You don't have to be a romantic to love this film. If you like a good story, then yes, rent it, along with any Austen adaptation.

Hope that helps.

(By the way, if you want to watch a fantastically funny modern adaptation of the same story, rent Bridget Jones' Diary).

The story really shows that souls mates do exist. And they're not always who we think they will be or should be.

Oh, crap - I haven't watched it in a year so I've forgotten the characters. She's the one with the blond bobbed hair - the one that had the fling with the guy they were supposed to be investigating? The other spy?

I much prefer her with longer hair, but she's just luminous.

As for those of you who haven't seen the show, Matthew's character and Keeley's character are both exceptionally complicated, especially when it comes to balancing their personal lives with their work. I think it makes them the two most compelling characters on the show.

*will be back with photos*
