zoloft (anti-depressant / anti-anxiety med) seems to have cleared up my acne!

Hi,

I have been on Zoloft for depression for about a month, and have noticed that it seems to have cleared up my acne. My face seems to be so smooth now!

Anyone else found this??
 
well I am only on day three of anti-dep's but If I notice it I will let you know. It'll be a perk for me :)
 
Do you think it's the meRAB or reduced stress thats helping your skin? I've been on several different anti depressents over the years and it never cleared my skin, but they never made me feel better either :(
 
I don't know.

I am insulin resistant (which causes acne) and I take meRAB for that. They have been semi-effective at reducing acne.

What I do know is that evelated insulin is linked with elevated cortisol and depressed serotonin. So the antidepressant works on increasing serotonin which would reduce cortisol and then insulin (by reducing cortisol)... I think the doctors are hoping it will work like that...

So I suppose it could be from reduced cortisol and/or insulin .... who knows when your endocrine system is as stuffed as mine! ;)
