Just wanted to share what helped me dramatically with my acne when I was younger. I started getting white spots on my nails and the M.D. I went to told me it was a zinc deficiency. I had them for over a year and at the very same time I developed them I got severe cystic acne ( I never put the two together). When I started taking Zinc - the cystic acne vanished.

You don't have to have white marks on your nails to have a decreased amount of zinc in your body. Maybe taking zinc (chelated zinc) might help with the cystic or even regular acne. I took 30 -50 mg a day.

I also found Zinc (along with other multi-vitimains) to be helpful.

But I also found ZINC oxide based sunBLOCK helpful too. The majority of sunSCREENS out there are chemical based, and they simply absorb UV rays. The most commonn chemicals in almost all sunscreens can very well cause irriration of the skin. So while sure it helps prevent UV damage, the chemicals you are putting on your skin are being directly absorbed into your face and skin - and therefore direclty into your blooRABtream!

Zinc oxide on the other had is a SUNBLOCK. Sunblock and suncreen are different. Sunblocks contain either Zinc or titianium dixoide, and they reflect or scatter UV rays rather them absorbing then. They basically form a layer of protection on your skin. Remeber in the old days when lifeguarRAB would have that thick white cream on there nose? Yeah that was SUNBLOCK. But now-days, they've made sunblocks with Zinc where they can go on basically color-less. Zinc Oxide/physchical sunblocks are best for people with sensitive or acne prone skin. Zinc oxide actually has been reported many times to help reduce acne and inflammation. Once I switched to a Zinc oxide only based sunscreen with none of the other chemical crap in it - not only did my acne reduce, but Zinc oxide is actually the STRONGEST protectant against UV rays .
