Police investigating a domestic dispute between George Zimmerman and his estranged wife say video from Shellie Zimmerman's iPad may be crucial evidence in determining whether any charges are filed. (Sept. 10)

Authorities were continuing to investigate a domestic dispute involving George Zimmerman and his estranged wife at her father's Florida home, despite Shellie Zimmerman's refusal to press charges, Lake Mary police said Tuesday.
Public information officer Zach Hudson said police responded to a 911 call Monday afternoon from Shellie Zimmerman in which she can be heard telling the dispatcher that George Zimmerman threatened her and her father with a gun and that "I'm really scared."
She later recanted the gun accusation, police said. "We took him down at gunpoint," Hudson said. "We searched him physically. There was no weapon, nor was there any weapon involved."
She also can be heard on the call saying George Zimmerman smashed an iPad she was holding and cut it with a pocket knife.

"We have an iPad in our possession," Hudson said. "That iPad has video footage on it — what was going on inside the household. Unfortunately the iPad is in several pieces," but has been sent to a lab for analysis, he said.
Police allowed Zimmerman to go free Monday afternoon after questioning him outside the home. Police Chief Steve Bracknell said Shellie Zimmerman and her father decided not to press charges after consulting with a lawyer. However, the investigation will continue, Hudson said.
George Zimmerman was acquitted in July in the 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in a case that captured the nation's attention and put a spotlight on Florida's self-defense gun laws.
