I've been on aciphex for 5 yrs and my reflux has mostly been under control. My break through acid started getting worse and I had a horrible acid attack that lead to a sinus infection and strep throat. Right after the attack I was put on 300mg of zantac at night, however the zantac seems to be making the acid worse (or maybe my acid is getting worse and it's just not working) also I am on amoxicilin for the strep and had another acid attack after taking the zantac and amoxicillin close together. I am wondering if it's typical for zantac to make things worse before it makes the acid better and/or if it takes a long time for it to work. I have stopped taking it due to the antibiotics , and I'm also wondering if antibiotics tend to make acid worse or if my continuing reflux is just getting worse. I am constantly coughing and hoarse from acid and my throat are sinuses are not recovering well even with the antibiotics due to the constant acid. I am very concerned as I am a singer. The acid is also really bad especially at night and I don't know if it's the zantac (or lack of) antibiotics or if the acid is just taking over my life. I'm really frustrated and wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks for listening.
