Hey ace I just ordered this phone off ebay and its in the mail headed to me in California right now. I looked for reviews and information on it and posted over at phonescoop. Here is what is said...

I was looking around for a cheaper alternative to the Sony Ericsson w710i and found that its brother (the z710i) is almost identical in features and is $60 cheaper at around $265 on ebay.

Here are the features I think everyone wants to see...

*Memory Stick Micro (M2)

This phone is a complete steal imo and the only things you are losing from the more expensive w710i is slight design (case and outside screen color), headphones, armstrap and you end up with a smaller memory card (64mb vs 512mb). I am not completly sure but I also think there is no calorie counter in the z710i. As far as the memory card issue you can newegg a 512mb card for around $35.
The short story here is that if you like the w710i but are turned off by the looks of it or the price then the z710i is an incredibly similar and attractive alternative. I ordered one yesterday and when it arrives later this week I will post my thoughts. Hope this helps anyone trying to make a decision since I could not find much information on the phone around the net. -Rob

YAY I got my z710i today via FedEx. Here are some pictures and info.

The company that I bought the phone from shipped me a plug converter from anything to US 120v plug. This was not included in the box so good thing they did that
It is charging right now but I did slip in the battery and a sim card real quick to test it. Everything started up fine but the menu is in Chinese which I don't understand. I pressed a few keys and the English option appeared. After that the phone went through a few tips on how to run the phone and then I ended up at the main menu. To my surprise someone called me right after that... the phone was ready to go right out of the box with the exception of setting up the right language. I am going to let it finish the 2 hour charge and then post some more pics of the menu and software. I'm very impressed so far!
I use the phone with Cingular here in California.

I've had this rare little phone for two weeks now, and absolutely love it. I had, and sold two w810i's simply because I prefer a flip phone, and because I had a real issue with the low earpiece volume on both. This phone is everything that was great about the w810i, but with none of the stuff that I could do without (Walkman, autofocus on camera, candybar form).
The RF is outstanding, the updated UI is fast and intuitive (miles better than my old Motorolas...even my hacked-to-the-max V635), and the call quality both incoming and outgoing is clear and strong. And...the earpiece speaker volume is twice as loud as the loudest w810i I've ever heard. Build quality is solid, and it feels much more sturdy and "dense" than I would expect an all-plastic phone to feel. Overall, I am very impressed!
Of course, I missed the sexiness and coolness of the w810i after I sold it...so I bought another one today from Cingular to be my weekend/backup phone. Should have it Thursday...and I hope the earpiece issue has been fixed!
