Z320i and winimei urgent

I'm trying to unlock z320i with winimei and com cable - is this possible?
Checked the pinout and its correct but sw searches for serial comms with the phone - with usb cable this would be the point where you would short the com port pins but what do you do with a serial cable or does it just not work?
Any help greatly appreciated urgently!!

I use the usb lead with a com port piece with pins 2 and 3 soldered together
